Biodiversity Symposium on the Middle East - Jordan - October 2008

Dear colleagues,

it is a great pleasure for me to invite you on behalf of the organising
committee to the symposium "Documenting, Analysing and Managing Biodiversity
in the Middle East". This international symposium is a unique opportunity
for all interested in the fauna and flora of the Middle East to exchange
information, to meet personally and to make new plans for cooperation.

The symposium will be held at the University of Jordan, Amman, from 19 to 21
October 2008. It will provide a forum to present recent research results and
to discuss issues of mutual interest, such as patterns and processes of
continental and marine biodiversity, biodiversity and ecosystem services,
climate change, renewable resource management, and biodiversity conservation
in the Middle East. Side events are planned to cover specialised workshops
on Middle Eastern freshwater fishes, natural history museum management, and
museum education.

The geographic scope of the conference comprises Turkey, Iran, the countries
of the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula and the surrounding seas.
